Charles I. Bloomgarden, M.D., F.A.A.O.

Charles I. Bloomgarden graduated from New York University Medical School in 1960 and went on to a residency in ophthalmology. He extended his studies with a year of fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology. His achievements both personally and professionally have been exemplified by his appointment as Chief of Ophthalmology in Huntington Hospital for 12 years, 1982-1995.

Dr. Bloomgarden¹s interest in working with people has been the thread of his success. He taught residents in ophthalmology at Nassau County Medical Center for 10 years and was on the faculty in neurology at Stony Brook Medical School for five years. His volunteerism with the Guide Dog Foundation for 22 years placed him in a variety of positions. He was chairman of the Board for 4 years during a critical time of the organization¹s growth and a director on the Board for 18 years. His leadership at the Guide Dog Foundation contributed to its growth from a small organization to one that services many blind people a year.

Dr. Bloomgarden¹s life is active with a busy office practice. After starting off with a partnership with Dr. Gerald Blumenthal who now resides in Florida, his practice grew to include Dr. Bernard Gordon and Dr. Paul Krawitz. He and his current partner, Dr. Krawitz, practice in a high technology modern office to give their patients the best possible care. To make an appointment with Dr. Bloomgarden::
